Don't overlook graphics card, ram motherboard chipset and Hard disk
performance. Any of these will slow down even the fastest processor.
Concentrate on a well balanced system.

How often are you going to be unable to access a powerpoint? When was the
last time you used a notebook or any pc for 3 hours or more without a break?

I'm comparing the Dell Inspiron 8500 with the Compaq x1001. They look
about equal in every way except for the processor. Most of the times
I'm going to use this plugged in but if all else is the same I'd
rather have the longer battery life for those times when I'm flying
with this + having a laptop that's lighter and cooler is also a bonus.
What kind of performance difference can I expect between these two and
what's the benifit of going with one over the other?
