Perhaps.
I don't have a wireless card, though I am looking at them, my home network
is a mix of a 10baseT backbone with 10base2 coming off it.
Anyway, though I haven't done surfing (or usenet posting) on the toilet,
I do tend to use my laptop (a 2.2lb toshiba portege) as everything from
an ebook reader to an MP3 player, to something to playback realtime TV
encoded on my server.
It can also function in degraded mode when the server is not availble
(during power cuts) to give me access to the net.
A wireless mouse, and the laptop sitting on its side on a table next
to the bed lets me read comfortably in bed, catch up with usenet, read
emails, ...
It's possible to use smaller laptops in bed comfortably with them just
resting on your chest (some females may have balance problems
), though
some of the larger models make you understand why piling weights on the chest
was a popular torture method.
This can be nice if it's very cold.
Wireless (RF) Optical mice work well even on bedclothes.
In rooms where a full-blown computer would be inappropriate, it can also
be usefull, for example recipies, (wireless mouse again handy as you
don't touch it with unclean hands).
It can be handy with some DIY tasks, for example a proper endoscope
can set you back thousands, but a webcam duct taped to a USB light
can often do just the same job for a very small fraction of the price.
With the proper software/hardware, it can do many things.
Want to watch bread rise/a pool fill, ...
Just connect a webcam to the laptop, point it at the object in
question, and then open a window on your desktop with the display.
