Recovery for Sony Vaio TX-series
Posted by beseech@gmail.com on June 8th, 2006

I bought a TX650 in the US november 2005. I thought that on a $2500
computer a recovery CD/DVD was included in the package, but there was
no such media. I contacted Vaio-support to buy one for $18 but they
don't ship to Sweden.

Is there anyone out there that has the DVD and would like to send a
copy to me, either electronicly or by postal mail? I will cover all you
expences. Thanks in advance...

Have you tried reading the inclosed manual includng the PDF that can
be found in installed files?
Sony stopped making recovery disks for their top of the line notebooks
but they have the facility ( in your computer) how to create your own
recovery disk.
You have to select which media you want to use, CDs,DVD-R, DVD-DL...

Well, if the computer could boot I wouldn't need the DVD in the first
place

Well your predicament was your own making as you did not inspect the
package thoroughly when it was shipped to you. You should have known
that Sony will list what is included in the shipment.
Another thing also I almost forgot that if IIRC VAIO notebooks are not
shipped with recovery CD or DVD but you are urged to make your own
recovery disk. The retailer briefed me this before I recieved my
package.
If the computer wouldn't boot have you ever asked some technician to
make a check check what was wrong?
That's a lot better than waiting for somebody in the net to answer your
query.
Buying a notebook worth 2500 USD then paying a small fee to have it
check would not hurt your pocket book.
