Hi,

I am looking for instructions on how to replace the combo drive
(CD/DVD)
on a Compaq Presario model 2140US. I am not sure whether the unit can
simply
be slid out and replaced or whether the machine will have to be
dismantled.

These are easy to do.. Two screws on the hinge covers and the powe
bar cover assy comes off (right side first).. They pull th
keyboard.. 4 screws at the rear I believe and you will see the
screws that retain the drive at the rear.

it's faulty. will read disks but errors out on writing. i found a (new
and
oem) replacement for $118.
