- replaced LCD Panel->Now display is all white

Hi folks. Heavy hardware hacking question here. I replaced the LCD
panel on an old Sony 505tr laptop with what seemed to be an identical
panel from another dead sony (not sure if it was exactly the same
model, but the panel looks the same from the outside.
In fact, to start with, I just put the whole display unit on without
even removing the LCD panel from its backing.
Now when the laptop boots, the panel comes on but displays all white,
no text at all. All the connectors looked the same on the "new" and old
display panels, but there's definitely something wrong.
Anyone have a clue what's going on here?

The LCD cable is the first item to check. The LCD will be white when
there is no signal to the panel.

Okay, I will pull it apart and see if there's an obvious problem with
the cable. Any other suggestions from anybody?

Besides "ensure that it's exactly the same model of computer or a
compatible screen" which you don't seem to have done, I can't think of
anything else...

Video cable could be bad. Could be misaligned, Or the screen is no good.
