- Replacing Thinkpad A21M motherboard with A20M board?
- Posted by Stan on July 1st, 2003
My Thinkpad A21M GXU died. A local repair service said that the
motherboard is shot and they would replace it for labor plus parts
(about $750). I took the laptop apart and would like to replace the
motherboard.
I can find inexpensive A20 motherboards but no A21 laptop boards for
under $450.
I would like to replace an A21 (2628) motherboard (08k3264) that has 8
Megs of video ram and a video out port with a similar motherboard
replacement for an A20 machine (08K3152 or 12P3156 or 08K3316). These
are for 2628 machines with the same 14.1 inch LCD screens.
I have an 800 Mhz chip which should run a little slower in the A20
board, but it should work.
Will this replacement work?

I'll sell you a complete and working A21M for $575, or if you want
just the shell, we can talk.
OR, how about an A20M 15" screen Cel 550 for $450.00
