Screen display
Posted by Pete on April 2nd, 2004

Using a laptop, brand new from work. Problem is the display has
gotten smaller with lots of black around the edges. Not sure which
button(s) I hit. The resolution is fine but how can I get the display
back to full size

Regards

Pete,

Which make/model? IBM Thinkpad screen expansion for DOS, or starting up is
Fn-F8. If its a smaller Windows screen, right-click on an empty area of the
Desktop, select Properties, Settings and make sure the Screen Area slide is set
at least to 1024x768 pixels. Then click OK, click on the OK for "Screen will
now readjust size" msg. You should have full size screen now.

Either you are using the wrong drivers or you did something that changed
the resolution to a value less than the physical screen resolution.
[From your description, the latter sounds more likely.] Among the
things that this might include (not the only things) would be starting
up in "safe mode" or turning on "TV Output".

[Contrary to what you might think, the resolution is most likely NOT
"fine", e.g. doesn't match the physical LCD panel.]
