Sony Vaio Keyboard Question
Posted by Carl on January 20th, 2008

I have a sony Vaio FS 970. It is 2 years old. My "seven" key is
missing and I can only make it work by pusing *very* hard on the small
plunger that is underneath the missing key. Can I program one of the
function keys to become a "seven" key? If so, that will be a lot
cheaper than replacing the keyboard.

Thanks.

It could be done, but it's WAY above end-user level activity.

You might find a free utility to reassign keyboard keys somewhere.

Replacement keyboards for Vaio notebooks are not too expensive. This is
a good source http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/S...top,Parts.aspx

Call them if the keyboard you need is not in their online catalog.

Thanks, Barry. I found a utility that remaps keyboard keys called Key
Remapper from Softarium and it works great. I remapped my missing
"seven" key to F8. Now I can type "F8" and get 777777777. Whoopeee!
