After a clean Windows XP Install, I can't get the built in camera to work.
Once I install the drivers I see it under My Computer, but when I double
click it all I see is a white screen and fuzzy black lines across -
stuttering around.
Somebody at Sony told me to install the Recovery console and install the
capture app, but that's the problem. I don't want to do a system restore
and reinstall all that junk these vendors put on the PCs. Is there a way to
just install this Recovery console and then just install that magic camera
software?
In My Computer, the camera is listed as VCC-U01.

The entire TR series is plagued with failed cameras, just as you
experience. The problem, IMO, is in the rotating case electrical
contacts. There is no solution except to purchase an USB camera and
uninstall the driver for the built-in camera.

It looks like I get the Donkey of the Month Award. This laptop was off ebay
and I did ask the guy if the camera worked - I read about the problems. I
asked him twice and he said yes the cam was working. Looks like I have a
bit of a dispute on my hands.
