Symantec AV - 2006 vs 2007 + key
Posted by P.Schuman on January 30th, 2008

I've been running Symantec Anti-virus on my laptops for years.
When the yearly subscription runs out, instead of renewing online,
I just buy a newer version from eBay - and either install or use the new key.

BTW - is there a Symantec user group or product user forum anywhere ??

So, I have AV 2006 installed, and just received my AV 2007 CDrom.
I updated the activation key from the envelope, and good for 366 days.

Then started thinking....
wonder if anything is different between AV 2006 vs AV 2007 ?

AV 2007 has a 'dumbed down' interface. I actually don't really like AV
products from Norton - they just take up too much CPU resources. I
prefer aVAST anti-virus software - have you used it before?

There is a difference (for a change, the later versions of Symantec
really are better), and you should have uninstalled the old version
(completely) and installed the new version from scratch. What you did
MAY have extended your AV subscription, but may not have updated the
program itself from 2006 to 2007.
