Hello,
I recently inherited a TI TravelMate 5000 laptop. The unit appears to be
complete except it is missing an AC power adapter.
So far I have found a used replacement online for $20, and a 'newer' one
for considerably more. My local CompUSA has a couple universal laptop AC
adapters for around $50-$100.
I was thinking I could possibly get more use out of the universals
(since I could use it with other devices considering I'm not sure if
this laptop works yet), but they do not explicitly list the TM5000 on
the compatibility list. Not even on their extended lists on their
websites.
Assuming I can find a universal with the right tip and sufficient power
requirements, would it be safe to use with the TM5000? I'd really like
to hear from anyone that has tried this with any of the TM5000/6000
series units.
Many thanks!
