- toshiba 6100 WiFi external antenna?
- Posted by Mike Welch on September 18th, 2003
Anybody got any ideas of how I could get an external antenna to work
with my Toshiba 6100's built-in wireless rig? The reception isn't
bad, but if I move the laptop around I get a better reception in some
places than in others.
Some of the PCMCIA cards come with external antenna jacks, but so far
it appears only to be the lower-end cards.
I've plugged 2 other PCMCIA WiFi cards in the 6100 (SMS and LinkSys).
Neither worked as well as the internal, so I'm guessing the built-in
antenna isn't that bad.
I did just order an Orinoco a802.11a/b/g card. They're supposed to be
the best. Might try bridging the internal and the Orinoco for a
better reception.
Anyway, thanks for any tips...
