- Toshiba Tecra 8100 temp sensor?
- Posted by Brian Smither on July 26th, 2003
On a Toshiba Tecra 8100 (PT810U), the thing gets damn hot. I have evidence
that the fan does come on, but I feel it should come on a lot sooner and
keep blowing for a lot longer. Or it could be that the CPU fan just isn't
adaquate to keep the temperature from reaching a point where you risk
second degree burns.
I'm looking all around the area where the CPU is located on the
motherboard, I've removed the blower assembly. I cannot find any kind of
sensor.
So, is the system relying on any internal sensor embedded in the CPU chip
itself? If so, is there any utility or BIOS setting that can adjust when
the CPU fan comes on?
Thanks.

This should resolve your problems and your curiousity:
FAN: Cheap shareware program to control the fan. I use the FORCE FAN ON
option and keep my fan on all the time:

MOTHERBOARD MONITOR: Temperature monitor freeware (and it will measure
at least two motherboard sensors on Toshibas in my experience):

HDDTEMPERATURE: Monitors hard drive temp sensor. Click then scroll down
to bottom to find freeware version:
