I have since 2003 a Acer Travelmate 800.

After 1 year, the left key of the trackpad begins to bounce

Single clicks became double clicks
Drags became double clicks

This becomes worse and worse.

I have already exchanged the key platine of the touchpad
2 times.

This happened never before at my notebooks from
1994, 1996, 1998, 2000

It this extrem bad quality of the keys from the touchpad
a special feature of Acer?

Already, the problem is so annoying, it tkes me several
hours to install the spare part, that I will never buy
Acer again.

This is not a normal thing at all. But I've not seen that many Acers,
I've seen the keys come off the upper left of some dell touchpads, but
it's not all that easy to do. And the lowers can take over. I don't
recall a single case of a problem like yours with the touchpads.
