- USB Boot to Thinkpad R50

Thinkpad recognize Cruzer Mini Stick as bootable option in
startup. Mini Stick was formated with Win98, including
system files. Yet ThinkPad says "No operating system found"
and then boots from Hard drive.
If the R50 can boot from the USB, what operating system
is it looking for (that can fit on a 128 megabyte memory stick)?
