What do you think of batteries from Hong Kong
Posted by Salvador Freemanson on February 21st, 2007

Hi guys,

My XYL needed a new battery for her Compaq Evo laptop. We found a great
deal on Ebay for a new battery from Hong Kong for $30 plus $12 for p &
p. Seemed a great deal compared with the price Compaq ask.
It took a month to arrive. Well I can understand that, international
post and customs etc.

But it didn't work. The Hong Kong company agreed to exchange without
question, so I sent the battery back (another $6). Two months later,
nothing so I contacted them again and they said they would send another.
Another month later I received two brand new batteries.

It turned out that only one of the new batteries actually worked. So
that's a ratio of one in three that are good.

Is this kind of thing or was I just unlucky?

Also, I'm not sure what to do with the 'spare' new dud battery. I don't
think there is much point in sending it back (they would probably bin it
and it would cost me another post fee). I wonder about the possibility
of taking the cells out (very carefully of course) and putting them in
the old battery.
Any ideas anyone

Thanks
Salvador
