Hi there. Got a Toshiba 4000CDT for xmas (yay!) and need to network it up,
for use at home and all the access points I go to. I've got a desktop on
Rogers, and I'm looking into some Linksys products, the BEFW11S4 router and
WPC11 NIC, each $84.99 at Best Buy (though I'm going to shop around once I
decide on what I'm getting). Any reason not to get either of these? If
someone can convince me that there are better network cards for a little
more money, I'd do it. I know a fair amount about networking, but have
never looked into wireless products. Any advice appreciated.
Also it came with a regular version of Win98SE installed, not a Toshiba
version. I've looked on the Toshiba website and have found tons of drivers
and such (as well as a BIOS update, which I'll do soon enough) - are there
any extra drivers I'd need besides what I'd find there if I ever have to
reinstall Win98 or if I decide to try Win2000 on it? I've heard it can be
irritating installing a a non-manufacturer specific OS onto a laptop.
Thanks for any input.
