Anyone using Vexira for Virus scanning?
Posted by Chris Cameron on March 5th, 2004

I did some research on potential Linux virus scanners (for Windows
viruses) we could use with a soon-to-be-new Linux mail server, and at
the time I settled on Vexira.

My main concern is that keeping up with viruses is a tough job to do,
and Vexira (or "central command") doesn't have the size benefit that
Symantec or Mcafee have.

Is anyone using Vexira? Have you noticed considerable lag with
updates?

Thanks,
Chris

Not exactly the anwser to your question, but we use Sophos here. We run it
on the mailserver and the desktops. Excellent suite of tools, remote update,
etc. and at a much better price than Norton and McAffee.

It has. Actually, Vexira is another commercial name for H+BEDV GmbH
AntiVir / AvMailGate, etc. It's exactly the same source.

Nope, they seem reasonbly quick. They are in fact a smaller company (
relative to the Norton's and mcafee's ), but I've never had a problem in
over a year of running it...And considering their licensing for the mail
product, as compared to others, *very* affordable.

This incombination with with desktop AV has kept us relatively clean.
