I have a small Windows network with machines on a local workgroup. This
includes a number of laptops that come & go as required.
I've added a Linux machine and, with some help from here, seem to be
integrating it fairly well.
The thing that I'm now having a problem with is dhcp, the changing
addresses of the machines and the fact that the master browser is not a
specific machine. So, for example, the printer which is attached to one
of the Windows machines has to be accessed via the machine which can
have a different IP address as and when machines come and go. Windows
copes with this, but I keep getting messages that Samba can't find the
printer.
Not sure if it's related, but when trying to view the network from the
Linux machine it often gives a message "Application 'Nautilus' (process
3308) has crashed due to a fatal error. (Segmentation fault) ". I still
in these early days feel a little reluctant to submit a bug report.
I'm running Redhat Linux 9.
