Broken PangoLayout (ROX) - Error in precompiled RPM?
Posted by David Haggett on August 12th, 2003

(same post, new title)

I installed rox 2.0.1-1 by RPM downloaded from the rox download page at
http://rox.sourceforge.net/rox_download.html#RPMs. It installed fine,
except for a message about libxml2, but when I run rox from a command line
I get the following message whenever I click on a folder icon.

** (ROX-Filer:1003): WARNING **: pango-layout.c:2435: broken PangoLayout

The message repeats once for each folder displayed in the new window.

I've upgraded the libxml2 package with software from http://xmlsoft.org,
but I still get the above message if I run it from a terminal window
(although this is rare because I start it with my window manager (FluxBox)
when I log in with GDM).

Is this message a bug, or is it more likely to be the result of an
incompatibility between the compiled binary and my system? i.e. would
it go away if I compiled and installed from source?

TIA

With lack of an answer from elsewhere, I removed the package (rpm -e rox)
and downloaded the source RPM from the rox download site.

After rebuilding with rpmbuild --rebuild, I installed the resulting
package, and no more errors.
