- Fedora: Graphical Boot
- Posted by Michael Lavallee on February 3rd, 2004
When Fedora Linux Core 1 boots, it at one points loads X up to display the
programs and services much prettier than a text display. After it
finishes, it returns to the console, where it then loads X again for the
graphical login prompt.
Is there a way I can disable that initial X interface so it shows only
text? I believe that might speed startup by about five seconds or so.
(Which isn't really a big deal, I guess, but it's something I have noticed
a few times now).
Michael.

Edit /boot/grub/grub.conf, remove 'rhgb' from the kernel line.
