FYI - Nonesense to be shared!!!

I had to share this with folks who may "get" what's bothering me.

Today I lost a bid on the upgrading of an existing network of a client
of mine. Their current network consists of an AIX production server,
a Linux (RH) Lotus Notes/Domino server and about 50-60 recent PC's
running a mix of Win98se and XP Pro. The AIX box runs samba to
provide file services as a central repository for all the PC's. 100%
of the data (production and shares) is backed up nightly to 8mm tape
automatically. Has worked fine for many years. Typically the Linux
server and the AIX server run about 180+ days before a schedule
reboot.

Several months ago this client was visited by a new company with
several MCSE's and was sold a bill of goods about how MCSE's are
really in the know... blah blah blah.

When I was meeting with the client today I was told that they signed
with the other firm because, "after all, everyone KNOWS that Windows
is the preferred industry standard! And Linux is "OLD" code that will
soon be discontinued in favor of Window Server 2003".

Its bad enough that an existing client believed this crap but I just
couldn't believe my ears as to what my client "has learned" and
"obviously I wasn't telling them".

Go figure!!!!

Yeah, I know, not really. To the OP: what was your response to your
client's ludicrous gullibility? Could they potentially become a client
again when their Windows boxes start crashing on them?

So contact them in 9 months or so and tell them you'll fix the mess
they should be in by then - for a 100% raise in rates.

I've done it a dozen times. My stomach lining is shot from dealing
with windows, but I'm not poor...

No kidding. I expect such a client to reply "Secure web server? So it
