gtk-gnutella (no)firewall problem
Posted by Bob van der Poel on January 26th, 2004

I just downloaded and installed 0.93.3 version of gtk-gnutella. Earlier
versions seemed to work okay, but this latest version will not display
the 'smiley' on the status line, but insists on assuming that I have a
firewall enabled.

I'm conecting over a plain dialup (sadly, I have no other choice, other
than moving to a new location. Very sad). No other networking is enabled
on this machine.

I have tried to set the listen port in the config screen to different
values, but no changes.

I'm running Mandrake 9.1.

Not sure what other things to mention, so if you know ... do ask.

Unless someone sucessfully connects to you; it would think you are
firewalled. There is no other independant test to see if you are firewalled
or not.

So I'd say do not worry about it; Just let it run; as soon as someone
connects to you you will see the pretty happy smiley wearing shades.

Okay, I'll let it run for awhile and see what happens. So far, it
refuese to dl anything it finds.... Is this a change in behaviour from
previous versions ... I remember having the happy face before
