- install debian sarge
- Posted by cyril on February 29th, 2004
Hi,
I'm trying to install a sarge on a ext2 partition.
Configuration partitionning is ok but then I face the following problem:
System installation ends with an error. The file /target/var/log/debootstrap.log says:
ln: /target/usr/bin/awk: File exists
umount: /target/dev/pts: Invalid argument
umount: /target/dev/shm: Invalid argument
umount: /target/proc/bus/usb: Invalid argument
Anyone has a solution?
thanks
Cyril

Are you using the Sarge installer? It might be worth trying to install
a base Woody system first and then upgrade it to Sarge. All you have to
do is change "stable" to "testing" in /etc/apt/sources-list and then
"apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade".
It might also make sense to ask your question on the debian-user or
debian-testing mailing lists. Perhaps it is a known bug in the new
installer.

I think you have a point. The sarge installer hung at the partition step
for me. But sarge works fine after doing it the dist-upgrade way.

Please submit your experience with the sarge installer to the
Debian-installer developers. The sarge installer is still in development,
and they always could use help in squashing bugs.
