- Joe Editor problems
- Posted by Marshall Dudley on November 26th, 2003
I have used Joe editor for years, and have found it to be the best
editor around. However recently the hosting company updated Joe to a
later version, and now it is almost unusable. It wastes hours of my
time every day now.
At times it gets the bright idea to make files it is editing READ ONLY.
This seems to happen any time I lose my connection and have to sign back
on.
When it decides to do this, I can't edit the file without waiting a
fairly long time until it decides to make it not READ ONLY any more.
Is there any way to turn this feature/bug off? I wrote the author of Joe
about it, but did nto receive any reply.
Thanks,
Marshall

* Marshall Dudley <mdudley@execonn.com>:
wild guess: joe might lock you file and losing
the connection leaves the lock file in place.
(not sure whether joe does lock files, though.)
but how about installing joe for yourself in your account?
