Is Knoppix running from bootable CD using HD space at all?
Posted by Amir on December 10th, 2003

I'm new to Linux and Knoppix. Knoppix from bootable CD works for me, as far
as I can tell. DSL connection, browser and mail client -- no problems.

I just wonder -- is Knoppix using any hard disk space? Like saved setups,
data, etc. It can't be on CD, since it's running from CD-R.

Great, newsreader seems to be the culprit.

No it isn't, that's the purpose of Knoppix.

Knoppix will happily run just from CD and RAM without touching the
harddrive. If you want¸ you can save your knoppix configuration to the
harddrive, by clicking on the admin-menu and selecting save-config or
something like that.

I have a 128MB USB "thumb" drive, that I save the knoppix config to.
Works well, and I can use a clients machine without bothering the
(presumably broken) MS-Windows installation.
