can the mplayer (or any other dvd player on linux) do bookmarks?

I really can't find the answer.....

Well perhaps I am using the wrong word.

You begin watching a DVD. You have to stop so you BOOKMARK it. Then
you come back the next day, put in the DVD, go to the bookmark and
pick up exactly where you left off.
