Subject: (Gnubies) INSTALLFEST THIS SUNDAY!! November 23
Sunday Nov 23, 2003
12:00pm to 4:00pm
16 Beaver Street
Installfest
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a reminder that there will be an Installfest on
Sunday November 23rd from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at 16 Beaver Street.
It is a good idea to come early since it can get busy later and
installations sometimes take time.
All are welcome whether you are coming to help (thanks) to install a new
Free OS for the first time on your current computer, trying out a new
distribution, updating, getting new software, or just coming to watch
ask questions, or to get to know other people interested in Free software.
If you are installing on a brand new never before booted up computer,
there may be someone there with experience in trying to get a refund
(that you are probably also entitled to) for the unused OS that came on
the computer to tell of his and others' experiences as well. Regardless,
it should be informative and fun.
For those of you who have never been to an Installfest, it is simply
a gathering of people to help each other install Free software on their
computers to ask questions and to enjoy themselves.
It is important to know that if you are installing software, you should
be sure to backup anything you want to save and check out your hardware
first. Also you should be aware that things can go wrong and there may
be risks to man or machine - there are no guarantees.
The current location for our Installfests is (thanks to Alex Khalil):
16 Beaver 4th floor
in the Financial District btwn Broadway & Broad
Subway: 4,5 Bowling Green N,R Whitehall
2,3 Wall Street J,M Broad Street 1,9 South Ferry
