I'm crying to get away from windows, and frustrated at the
alternative.
So I found, and I AM "technical".
Amongst a host of things I designed and built an automatic spark
eroder from scratch, yet another reason why I don't want to have to
arse around with computers when I finish working on other technical
projects.
My adsl modem is not supported by Linux, the few that are, need
convoluted installation procedures (beyond setting up the provider).
It seems that drivers aren't even self-installing after a couple of
clicks, as far as I can gather. If they are, it sure isn't advertised.
