- Optimum block size for scsi tape backup with tar
- Posted by Russell Shaw on August 4th, 2003
Hi,
I'm using an SDT-9000 12/24GB DDS-3 DAT scsi drive for uncompressed backups.
Tar defaults to 10.24kB blocks.
In mt-st, should defblksize match the tar 10.24kB or can other sizes be used?
Will files smaller than 10.24kB waste the rest of the block/record?
