I was trying to get my data on DVD for a backup. I did some test but it didn't
work out as I expected and I couldn' t get it straight.
of course I have a directory /home/user
when I do
growisofs -Z /dev/dvd -J /home
I would have epxected the files on the dvd to be
/mnt/dvd/home/user
instead it is
/mnt/dvd/user
So how can I tell growisofs (resp. mkisofs) that I want the directory /home
also to be on the disc?
I understood that for this problem I may have to use graft-points but I didn't
really understand the explanation and when I tried to do this I got the same
result as without it.
Another issue is, can I limit the backup to a directorylevel?
i.e. in
/mnt/data1
I only want to have mnt and data1 (but not its content) on the disc.
When I could specify the level of the nesting it wouldn' t help because I also
have
/mnt/windows/C
where of course I want to structure of the directory to be the same.
In that particular case I can of course unmount all filesystems and only
backup the ones that I really want to have.
