Slackware 9.0 and LPRNG problem
Posted by Zach on February 25th, 2004

Hi all, any printing gurus out there can help me out, I'm pretty much
out of questions or answers for getting this working, read docs, YES,
I've been to linuxprinting.org. Their documentation is ok, except it
assumes you already know what these things do. For instance mentioning
that foomatic can make ppd files. I couldn't however for the life of me
find documentation that the command was foomatic-ppdfile, but I digress....

2.4.20 kernel, pIII 750 mhz Slackware 9.0
Haven't been able to get LPRNG to print anything.
Can print raw to printer, however when using
foomatic-rip+gimp-print+lprng+espgs7.07.1 I get the following error

The rendered receives a signal 255, then bails out. I pretty much have
all the up to date software, but a few things confuse me. What is the
difference between a print-filter and a printer-driver. I have
gimp-print as the recommended driver but I have no idea what it does
since foomatic-rip uses the a2ps filter. I've been all over the
Internet trying to get printing to work, have tried cups with no
success. Tips, suggestions, thoughts greatly appreciated.
