Thanks

R/Click the item you wish and choose "pin to start menu"
You can also drag them to your prefered position once they appear
on the SM

Right Click whatever you wish to appear on the Start Menu [SM]
EG: Start> All Programs> Nero> Nero SmartStart - your choice, only you
know what you would like to appear on your Start Menu.

Hmm. When I right click stuff I don't have "pin to start menu" as an
available option. Is this an add-on?

Darrell
the OP was asking how to add items to the Start Menu, now I just
assumed he meant programs.
You should be able to R/Click a program's exe file and choose "pin
to start menu", this not an add in . For example you can add Excel
thus, but not a workbook, sorry for any confusion.

Hi Darrell

You won't see Pin to Start Menu if you are using the Classic Start Menu;
it only works with the XP Start Menu.

Aha! Thanks. I do use the Classic Start Menu. I thought I must be going
blind since I could never see "pin to start menu" as an option.
