- all music and video files playing too fast, how to adjust playback

hi, i just installed windows xp and now all my music files and video are
playing too fast on all players like i tunes, real, windows media etc etc. i
turned off any sound enhancers they might have in case they conflict,
reinstalled i tunes just in case that was the problem. all music is still
playing too fast how do I solve this or adjust the playback speed ?

Start by installing updated drivers for your sound card. Never get
drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:
1. The card mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).
Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

thanks, a dumb question but how do I find out which sound card I have
installed ?

Not a dumb question at all and I should include this in my usual
"drivers blurb". You can look in Device Manager, but a really good way
to find out what you've got in your machine is to use a free system
inventory program like Everest Home or Belarc Advisor. Here are links:
