- Anyway to make shared folder to make access to "N" number of users
- Posted by JOHN MATHEW on May 8th, 2006
Hi,
One of my friend is using Xp professional in his company, where he is
using work group to access the shared folders.
The problem is that the shared folder in Xp only allowed, to connect 10
users to access files from the shared folder at a time.If at any time
if more than 10 user are trying to access the same shared folder OS
doesn't allow.
Is there any way to make shared folder to "Maximum Allowed Person" to
access the files inside the shared folder, like domain client.
Thank You So Much,
John Mathew

Try to implement domain instead workgroup.

By design, the optimum size of a workgroup is 10 to 12 machines.
Beyond that number, network performance starts degrading noticeably and
the administrative head-aches start growing exponentially. Further,
WinXP Pro, like WinNT and Win2K, will allow a maximum of 10 simultaneous
connections. WinXP Home allows a maximum of 5 simultaneous inbound
connections.
If more connections are needed, replace the WinXP (a workstation/client
OS) with a server OS.
