- Application Error - Explorer.exe
- Posted by Richard on February 27th, 2006
Similar to many of the other messages here, I'm getting an error message "The
instruction at 0x04fb4155 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could
not be written."
The error occurs when I attempt to access a specific directory on my D drive
(I have two physically separate drives, C & D). I can use Explorer to look at
and open files in all directories/subdirectories except this one - the
subdirectory opens and displays the contained files but immediately I get the
error. Explorer then freezes and I must use Task Manager to close it.
I'm accessing Explorer by clicking on My Computer.
Any suggestions as to how to solve/cure (or direction to an MS solution)
would be appreciated.

I now have multiple sub-directories in which this same error occurs.
This is using Windows Explorer on a Dell DImension with Windows XP and SP2,
and 1Nb of Dell supplied memory.
I can access these same sub-directories, without problem, using other
programs !
Can someone point me in the right direction to solve this probem ?

I've now discovered this problem only applies to subdirectories in which I've
stored an "AVI" file. But I still haven't found a solution !
HELP !
