- Application Management service won't start
- Posted by DogZillA on March 8th, 2006
i installed a 'bandwidth controller' proggy, it has an error 'kernel failed
to install...'. i notice in the Services Management Console that the
Application Management service is is not running. i assume it should be, so i
start it (it's on manual). it fails to start,. giving the errror -
could not start the application management service on local computer
error 2:the system cannot find the file specified
the pathe to exe file is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs
and i cannot find it.
i have set Application Management to automatic... assuming this service is
needed to intall aplications, am i right? should this be operable? am i in
need of the exe file?

See if you have any errors in your events viewer under system or apps and if
you see a service error go to your services and disable ipv6 helper and then
reboot.

Richard, yes...i found some errors, and some warnings... i'm not surprised, i
tinker alot.
however i found no ipv6 in Services M.C.
in apps, relevant errors are MsiInstaller (PC Cillin) and nview_info
it's likely unrelated, but i also found a failure audit under security in
event viewer, with workstation name: JIHAD.... whats this about.....seperate
problem?
