- Applications won't Install

Weirdest thing. Just started. Whenever I place an applications CD in either
of my drives the install splash screen will appear, but when I select
"install" i get some disk activity and an hourglass for about 10 seconds and
then all activity stops and the splash screen disappears with nothing
happening. What's going on with the installer? Please help. I have no idea
where to start.

Silly question, but did you try to reboot?

Yes, Ron....Rebooted twice and shut down my Norton AV. Still no help.

Use msconfig | startup to disable your background apps. Reboot. Try
again. See if it's one of the programs you have set to run24/7 that is
causing the niggle.
