- Auto "Prompt" won't work anymore. help!
- Posted by JohnnyB on January 13th, 2006
Hello,
Can someone tell me how to re-enable
windows to popup the dialog asking me
what to do with USB media. Nothing works
anymore. USB pindrive Camera or Memory Card
reader. It use to come up and ask me what
I wanted to do, but now nothing.
I've gone to My Computer and they all are
there. I went to properties Auto Play and
made sure everything (music, video, mixed
content) was set to "Prompt me each to to
choose an action" Still does not work.

Try downloading and running Microsoft's autoplay repair wizard.

Use the Powertoy, Tweak-UI for Windows XP. Expand the
My Computer category then AutoPlay, check the drives sub
category and make sure the appropriate drive letters used by
the USB media devices are checked. Next check below in
the Types sub-category and ensure AutoPlay is enabled for
removable devices.
Tweak-UI (SP1+) is available here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx
Tweak-UI download link is mid-page along the Right border.

You're very Welcome. It's good to hear feedback that a
suggestion or link helped a poster with their issue.
