- automatic updates

Automatic Updates sent me a notification advising:
"Windows found 1 update."
Then asking:
"How do you want to install updates?... Express Install or
Custom Install?"
The only choices given are 'install' or 'cancel.' No dates, no nothin!
I clicked cancel which got rid of the notification screen, however, a
yellow security shield remains in my task bar. No way to delete it.
Right or left click brings up the aforementioned screen. With no other
info given, (nor on the website) I have no idea what, when or why
regarding this update.
Automatic Updates is set to Automatic (recommended)...it's always been
set this way.
Most importantly, how can I determine if this specific update is
needed?
If not needed, how do I get rid of the shield?

If y'all want it, install it.
If y'all do not want it, hide it.
Both actions will eliminate the task bar notification area shield.
