Batch file to automate backup.
Posted by longboarder543 on November 30th, 2005

I know how to write a batch file to copy a folder to another location. The
problem is, I want to automate the copying of a folder onto a CD-RW for
backup purposes. It is on my work PC, running WinXP Pro, but we don't have
administrator rights to the machine, so I can't install Roxio and format the
CD as DirectCD, which would allow drag and drop. Is there any way to do
this. Thanks

I don't know that you can do this without packet writing software - and I
wouldn't think it very reliable in any case. The best way to burn files to
CD is to use CD burning software such as Roxio, etc.. Have you talked to
your admins about this?

I was afraid of that. As far as talking to the admins, I haven't, but I'll
give it a try. Is there not an app in Windows similar to Automator in OS X,
and if not, is that a feature likely to show up in Vista??

Try a 1GB (or, probably, less) flash drive instead of CD-W

I thought about that, and that's probably what I'm going to have to do. I
work for Target, so I'll just go pull one off the floor. Thanks alot guys
(or gals).

Is this what they mean in the supermarket when they talk about
"stock shrinkage"?
