- Being kicked offline when phone rings
- Posted by lee'anne ferguson on December 4th, 2005
Hello, Hopefully someone can help with my problem. When the phone rings
whilst I am online, I am automatically disconnected and have to dial up
again . I also miss the call. A little box comes up on the top of the screen
telling me I have ignored an incoming call. Can anyone tell me how I can
remain online? Broadband is not an option in my area. Many thanks. Lee'Anne

lee'anne,
It all depends on what type of modem you have got. If you have v.92
compatible modems then it should do it for you automatically when you
have installed the correct drivers for it.
Have a look at this link for USR product that I once used:

I note that you are using your real email in posting to NG. This is not
a good idea as you will get tons of spam messages and your dial up modem
will not be able to cope with them. Perhaps you can open a free hotmail
account for this sort of things.

If you have call waiting, you have to enable this in the phone and modem
options under "dialing rules". If dialing rules are not enabled, enable them
and then disable your call waiting for the dialup connection. The usual
string is *70,

A clarification. You have to enter a check mark which "disables" call
waiting.
