- Best way to sync desktop & laptop
- Posted by J Holtendehouzer on December 13th, 2005
I'd like to be able to sync the My Documents folder on my laptop with the My
Documents folder on my desktop. I can transfer files over my home network
(wired & wireless), but if I use a briefcase and copy files to it over the
network, it lists the files as orphans and doesn't sync properly.
I'm wondering:
(1) Can I make the My Documents folder itself a Briefcase?
and
(2) If so, how can I ensure the files aren't orphaned?
Thanks,
Joe

get the Microsoft SyncToy.

BUT, I'd be careful about sync'ing the actual My Documents folders; it'd
be better if you made a specific folder w/in My Docs that you'd like to
keep sync'd. Notice how large your My Documents folder is and you'll
understand why...
