blank system restore, no internet connectivity and blank search function after system restore
Posted by lily on February 20th, 2006

I ran system restore to try to resolve a problem I was having loading
Norton Internet Security. Result: Blank system restore screen (so I
can't undo the darned thing), unable to access the internet (Linksys
says the connection is just fine, but sends packets and does not
receive - no IP address will assign), and the "start-search" function
brings up a blank screen (although the stupid little dog shows and and
scratches his ear). Any ideas for help? Running xp. Thank you for
any input!

3.Locate the following Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\DHCP
DependOnService
Note The variable lists SYMTDI.
4.Edit the value to remove SYMTDI from the dependency list.
5.Restart the computer.

Thanks for the input - but the loss of internet connectivity happened
after system restore, not Norton. However, I tried your regedit -
there is no DependOnService listed.

Any other ideas? All assistance greatly appreciated. I've been
working on this thing for two days...
