Blank or vertical stripes screen, hangs
Posted by EnnioDiaz on December 6th, 2005

Brand new HP Media Center PC running Windows XP, strange problem. My screen
will suddenly go blank or blank with vertical pin stripes, and hangs there.
No ctrl-atl-del help here. I have to turn off, turn on. I think the problem
first ocurred when I double clicked on the aol icon that came with the
computer. (I was trying to access my existing aol account). It began
installing something and went blank and hung. It has since gone blank or
blank with stripes and hung whenever I have a browser open. I don't mean to
bash the aol browser, but it seems it occurs only when aol browswer is open
or aol is running in tray. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks! Ennio (Spring
TX).

Return the computer to factory condition by pressing F10 as the computer
is starting up (unless HP has changed their process, in which case
refer to the documents you got when you bought the computer). If the
problem occurs on a new installation, take the machine back immediately
to wherever you bought it since this is a hardware fault.
