Blocking pop3 connections
Posted by Queen_Feril on September 28th, 2005

I have avg antivirus and due to its email scanner I've noticed some spyware
that uses pop3 connections to send information. Is there a way to block any
and all pop3 connections or even just an address? Thanks to avg I can get the
address.

I would concentrate on anti-spyware programs rather than pop3 connection blocking. Other spyware may be using HTTP or FTP or god knows what.

I recommend SpyBot S&D.

If you was to block pop3 you would not be receiving any e-mail at all, if
outlook is set up to pop3 connection, I suggest using antispyware, let it
scan and delete of it's own accord

This means that the system is already infected.

Run these cleaners:

1. Ad-Aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

2. SpyBot S&D
http://www.safer-networking.org

3. CWShredder
http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract..._download.html

Update 1 & 2 before running a scan.

Then, run a full system virus scan with fully updated definitions. Try Trend
Micro's Sysclean package (free), it's capable of eliminating keyloggers,
trojans etc.
