Blocking a website from XP
Posted by semi on November 13th, 2005

Hi,

I was wondering, is there a way to block access to a website from XP
operating system?

How about a website that automatically downloads updates?

Thanks

IE | Tools | Internet Options | Security tab | Restricted Sites |
Sites button | Web sites

Sites button
[[Click this to add a Web site to the currently displayed zone. ]]

To assign a Web site to a security zone
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d.../sec_asyn.mspx

Understanding security zones

Hope this helps. Let us know.

One method is to add the website to your hosts file and give
it an IP address of 127.0.0.1 (local host) which causes it to
go nowhere. The hosts file is typically in the
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc folder for XP
