Blue screen of death
Posted by Old Geaser on March 11th, 2006

This has most likely been covered before. I was deleting a program with
add/remove. The computer locked. When trying to start again I got the blue
screen telling about win shut down and it may be a virus and to try doing
this and that. (If I could start the computer to do this and that it would
be great.) Any way, I did a repair of xp home and was reloading programs
and same thing happened; (Maybe I should have did a complete reinstall)
Not reading what to do on messages here before, I took the computer to the
shop. He said I had a corrupt file causing the problem.

I did a search for information on the blue screen. I did get some
information. Mostly was adds for programs like "Bug Doctor". My question
is, What should I do if this happens again? Do these programs recover a
blue screen or do they just run a check? There must be a easy way to
recover as I was only charged 1 hour labor and he did reinstall xp and some
files. Just want to be ready for the next time. Thanks in advance.

Bert
