- Blue Screen Stop Error
- Posted by rap2792 on March 6th, 2006
Running Windows XP on a Tablet PC with all the updates and unlikely to have
virus/spyware. Machine ran extremely slow and eventually rebooted
continually. Pulled up the blue screen with a Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error and
the following tech information:
STOP: 0X0000007A (0XC03DD658, 0XC000000E, 0XF7596ED0, 0X0829B860)
ftdisk.sys - Address F7596EDO base at F7590000, Datestamp 3b7d8419
Can not really reinstall for I have no original disks for the OS or
applications. No luck in going back to last time drive system operational. Do
have a Ghost of the drive but not sure if I can even get the ghost
operational due to the reboots.

Thank you for the link. The link gives a few reasons for the stop error but
it does not tell me what possible corrective steps are suggested...

Installed all critical updates as they came out. As machine started acting
up, I also installed most other updates.

FTDISK.SYS is the fault tolerant disk driver for Windows XP.
There are not a lot of documented instances of errors involving this
file, but what does exist indicates that a hardware problem with the
disk drive itself is a likely candidate.
Therefore I suggest that you have the drive itself checked out for
errors. One way of doing this is to remove the hard drive from the
Tablet PC and, using a 2.5 to 3.5 inch drive adapter, install it
temporarily as a second hard drive in a working PC. Then you can run
the diagnostic utility from the hard drive manufacturer's web site to
test the drive.
Good luck

ftdisk.sys. What version of this file is installed?
Right click on file and select properties.
