Hi, Let me tell you about the situation.

I had my computer working fine, but I bought new memory (1 extra gb to
my 512mb). I put the memory in, and it was detected and it worked. I
decided to reformat so I could start fresh, so by using Windows Washer,
I created an HD eraser boot floppy disk. I choose to do it 3 cycle
erase. After it erased, I stuck in my Windows XP Pro install disk and
set it to boot from dvd-rom first. It starts out well, loading all the
files. It says at the bottom "Setup is Starting Windows" and I get a
blue screen of death! I tried many times, some with and without the new
memory, but always blue screen.

My motherboard is a Intel D875PBZ
The memory I bought is from PQI.

Any help... please?

ps: It is not the disk, the disk is fine and works.

Can't provide a useful response without useful symptoms, what's the BSOD say?

What does the blue screen error say?
Have you disabled BIOS antivirus protection and stripped unnecessary
peripherals from the machine?

I belive it is the normal error 0x000000A5.
It says that there was an error and windows shut down to prevent any
hardware damage. It also tells me to scan for viruses.
I didnt take any hardware out of the machine since Im a novice when it
comes to hardware installation.
I dont belive my BIOS has an antivirus, or maybe I just never looked.

Hi Dennis,

0xA5 indicates a motherboard that is not fully ACPI compliant. As it has
already been installed there, I would suspect that the problem lies in the
hardware configuration. Check for the BIOS-base antivirus detection scheme,
as it can cause this issue.

I checked my BIOS and I see no mention of antivirus.
I can give you the version of the BIOS, although I dont know if itll
help: B7875.10A.86A.0026.P05
There is no name, it just says BIOS Setup Utility

Under the Security Tab the only thing it gives me is passwords and
something called chasis intrusion, which is off.

***I seem to have made a mistake.
The error I get on the STOP screen is:

OX0000007B (0XF7802524, 0X00000C34, 0X00000000)
I may have missed some zeros and put a letter instead of a number since
I copied down by hand, but the first one is correct.

Sorry, I recalled seeing the A error, but I guess not.

The Ram that you installed is it the same mhz as the one that was in there originally?

Yes, I belive it is.

The RAM worked originally. I have been told that it is a hard disk
problem.

Denis, best bet would be to copy down the error string and search in
google or yahoo....
Also, i would very much beleive that its caused by memory, as i had tons
of similar issue with memory chips in past.
Get Mobo bios upgrade from manufacturer,
Check if purchased ram supports the board (i know it worked b4, still,
check),
You can try disabling bios shadowing and antivirus in bios setup
It would not hurt to run a HD disk diagnostic to see if it developed bad
sectros, but then the error message should probably say that its a disk
failure

No, it only installs all the drivers and then says "Setup is Starting
Windows" and then the screen goes black and the error appears.

Hi Dennis,

It may be a problem with the installation volume. I would run chkdsk c: /r
from the recovery console first. If it is a clean installation, I would
delete and recreate the installation partition at setup. Failing both of
these, I would then try a hard drive diagnostic from the vendor.
